Instruments 樂器
Rooted in musical traditions that span centuries, the instruments of the Chinese orchestra each carry a voice, a history, and a character of their own. The singing erhu, shimmering yangqin, expressive pipa, warm xiaoruan and zhongruan, soaring dizi, and resonant guzheng represent different colors of China’s rich musical heritage. Some sing, some whisper, some dance, and some provide the pulse beneath it all. When brought together in an orchestra, these distinct voices become something greater, a living conversation between history and the present, tradition and imagination, and between each young musician on the stage.
At NACYO, students do more than learn an instrument. They become part of a musical tradition passed from generation to generation, discovering how their individual voice can contribute to the sound of an entire orchestra.
